Craft Your Own Hand Broom
Irina Lawrence-Mathias and Jeri Robinson-Lawrence are the mother-daughter duo behind Flying Fibers, a wool and lavender farm located in Wrightsville, PA. Cross Quarter Club is thrilled to welcome them back as guest instructors. We will be making turkey-wing brooms, which are a traditional, Appalachian handcraft and form of folk art. These brooms have a simple, utilitarian beauty to them, and are functional works of art. You will have your choice of cording color, and the option to add locally-grown dried botanicals (dried lavender stems from Flying Fibers or dried florals from Muhly & Cedar’s inventory!) if you intend to use your broom for decorative display.
The Sharing Table: Garden Seed Swap
Most gardeners have a collection of seeds, often larger than what they can reasonably plant each year. Bring any seeds you’re willing to share - full or partially used seed packets or seeds you saved from your own garden. When you arrive at the pavilion, there will be a table designated for the seed swap with bins for herbs, vegetables, perennial flowers, and annual flowers. Place your extras in the appropriate bin and look through what’s there to find some new-to-you varieties to take home!

Food + Drink
We will have a spread of seasonal snacks and refreshments, including charcuterie, soup, bread, dessert, and a selection of hot teas. Somewhere between heavy snacks/light dinner!
Additional Notes
We are gathering at Cedar Farm & Nursery, the new home base for Jenn Lubman, who previously operated Muhly & Cedar on Main Street in Shrewsbury. She and her partner, Dave, have been working hard to build the plant nursery of their dreams, and I’m so excited for everyone to see their new space! When you arrive, please park along the gravel driveway and head inside the wooden barn.
